Health & Wellness Check
To reduce the risk of fainting, we recommend that you eat within two hours prior to your appointment and ensure you drink plenty of water while bathing
(particularly if you have been exercising).
For your own safety - do not overheat the tub.
Please follow the guidelines if you have any of the below:
- Heart Condition - If you have a pace maker it is advised that you refrain from using the bubbles.
- Blood Pressure Issues - Keep in mind that the spa naturally lowers your blood pressure. If you have low blood pressure, or are taking Beta-Blockers, refer to the Blood Pressure sections below.
- Pregnant - It is not recommended that you bathe in the first trimester of your pregnancy. We advise gaining approval by your midwife or doctor to bathe in your second and third trimester. Please inform staff and we will provide a thermometer and ensure the water is below 38 degrees. We do not recommend bathing longer than 30 minutes; however you may do so at your discretion.
- Psoriasis - Please shower before entering the spa.
- Cold or Flu / Generally Unwell - Please be sure to drink plenty of water to reduce further dehydration caused by illness. If you have experienced vomiting or diarrhoea, it is advised that you wait two weeks before bathing in spas or pools.
- Cuts or Open Wounds - It is advised that you cover the area with a waterproof plaster.
- Low Blood Pressure - Our mineral water naturally lowers blood pressure. If you already have low blood pressure, bathing in hot thermal water may increase the risk of fainting. Please ensure to drink plenty of water whilst in the spa, do not increase the temperature of the spa, and be mindful that you may feel lightheaded after exiting the spa. Please inform staff immediately if you feel lightheaded and we can assist you.
- High Blood Pressure - Are you taking any of the below medications?
| Propranolol (Cardinol) | Metoprolol (Betaloc) |
| Atenolol | Nadalol |
| Carvedilol (Dilatrend) | Celiprolol (Celol) |
| Labetalol (Hybloc) | Sotalol |
The medications listed above are “Beta-Blockers”. When we bathe in hot thermal water our blood pressure lowers; our bodies natural reaction to this is to increase the heart rate to ensure blood is pumped to the brain. Beta-Blockers prevent your heart rate from increasing, which may cause feelings of faintness or feeling light-headed while in the spa. If this happens, turn the cold tap on and lift your heart out of the spa. When you start to feel better, slowly get out of the spa and sit down. Do not get out of the spa quickly - this increases the risk that you may faint.
